10 Reasons Why I Love Windsor!
Overview
In case you didn’t already know, I live in Windsor, Ontario Canada. The City of Roses, Ford City or “South Detroit” – I absolutely love it here, if I didn’t I probably wouldn’t be writing a blog post about it.
On that note – I’ve never understood why one would want to leave their city (especially when they say there’s nothing to do…) This baffles me. Well, if that’s the case get up off your bum and explore your city – research the history, find some local shops you can support… are you a foodie? Find some good restaurants! Try new things! Have a staycation in your city one day…

Trust me, while you think there’s nothing to do – you’d probably be surprised if you just take a chance and explore! Think about this before picking up and moving! It’s like the saying “the grass is always greener on the other side” says – what may seem boring could be fun if you just explore! Could you imagine leaving your “boring” city and finding out your new city is just as “boring” – let’s be real here, it’s on you if you keep complaining and don’t do anything about it. Like I said, venture out of your four walls, and explore! You never know what local gems are waiting to be found!
Top Ten Reasons I Love Windsor!
So, let’s get to it! Below are the reasons why I love my city!
- The People – if you know me I’m a huge people person! I love meeting new people and making connections, whether it’s at the library, farmers markets, craft shows, local shops, church or on the sidewalk!
- The Local Shops – I know a bunch – Wolf and Rebel, The Hook Pusher & Nancy Johns Gallery, Dr. Disc, Urban Art Market, The Little Petal Truck, Jones and Co., Walkerville Relics, May Court Club Shoppe, Hollands Consignment Shop, Fusion Fiber Arts, and so many more!
- The Art/Business Scene – It’s such a great community! Seriously, there’s hardly any drama or fuss, and everyone’s so nice and helpful. I always say it takes a village to run a small business.
- The Food – Oh my word… if you’re a foodie then come here, the diversity in food is legendary! Seriously.
- The Diversity – Speaking of diversity… Windsor is a very diverse city. There’s so many nationalities represented – we even have a festival in the summer celebrating this.
- The Waterfront – Oh dear. It’s absolutely gorgeous. I love having a beautiful scenic place to walk around and take photos with friends.
- The Pizza – Seriously, the best ever. We’re known for our pizza. ‘Nuff said.
- Walkerville – My absolute favourite area in town (well, one of them!) So many gems all located in one beautiful location!
- Ottawa Street – Again, another great location for local gems. Cafes, Consignment Stores, Etc!
- The Cafes and Coffee Shops – This is coming from someone who once hated coffee… we have a huge variety of local cafes and coffee shops which are all unique in their own ways. Taloola’s Cafe, Anchor Coffee House.
