UBC: My Record Collection
Introduction:
If you’ve been following along you’ll know that I’m participating in the Ultimate Blog Challenge – you can find all my posts here. Today’s prompt/idea is: “post a video on your site and write a few sentences about it.” Here’s some backstory, a few years back I started a YouTube channel (with my first video being a “clean with me” video.) So, I thought it would be fun if I shared one of my own videos… this one is a favourite of mine. As usual, grab a cuppa, get cozy and watch/read on!
I started young as an “oldies girl” – I remember often listening to music from the 50’s, 60’s and 80’s in my childhood. Growing up, I watched Old Hollywood films and fell in love with Audrey Hepburn. This continued in high school when my best friend and I decided that “Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows” by Lesley Gore, was our theme song!
To this day, I feel the oldies but goodies are way better than modern music. I’m definitely an old soul. Which is why I decided to share this video of my record collection. Keep in mind, this is 7 years ago – I miss these days, maybe I’ll get back into filming videos one day? What do you think? Should I?
I decided to share this, in hopes that I’ll find some other vintage lovers who swoon at records and the like, as much as I do. I’ll admit that I’m nervous to put my videos out there for all to see… Yes, I know I have a button for my channel in the top right corner, but I still get a little anxious when I know people are going to see it directly, if that makes sense! Haha.
My question for you, Dear Reader, is: What do you think about this video, do you too, like vintage things? If so – what’s your favourite era? And, why?
Oh, and I mean actual vintage – not from the 90’s!! On instagram I typed “vintage” into the gif story search bar and things from the 90’s came up… I know I’m from the 1900’s but seriously?! SO rude.

I miss records. There was just something special about putting the needle on the record just so. And the sound, CDs can’t recreate that sound. And umm, the Pretty in Pink soundtrack is sublime.
Right?! You should get a record player if you don’t still have one? I have one but I don’t use it as often as I should. I think I actually lost that record – long story! Boo. Hope you’re doing well!
I still have my record collection. I’m glad they still make turntables. I love all the music from forever. I am not at all familiar with the new music. Call me old!
I will totally deal with being called old too, haha! What’s your favourite record? I must have 200 in my collection by now. Same here – they’re timeless. Modern music is just simply not made correctly! They lost the charm.

I think my favourite genre would have to be the 60s followed very closely by the 70s.
